Description from the seller

Tadep Mambila healing fetish.
Donga Valley, Nigeria/Cameroon.

36.5 cm

Wood inlaid with a deep dark brown patina, pigments.

At the border of Nigeria and Cameroon, in the Donga Valley, lives the Mambila people. They are a population of farmers and herders living in difficult coexistence with the larger population of Fulani, nomadic herders.

Many works have been created within the framework of the Suaga, a system of masquerades and oaths accompanied by sacrifices.
