Medieval Mamluk jar from the 14th century in glazed ceramic.
Mamluk period, tall white ceramic jar with a wide rim, decorated with a cobalt blue motif on a white background.
Slender baluster-shaped vase, with a short neck and flared rim, placed on a flat base.
Blue-painted body on a white background with two medallions containing a clean central motif alternating with a rich floral decoration.
Beautiful antique patina, in excellent condition, with minor restoration.
Dimensions: Height 11.2 cm, diameter 7.3 cm
The blue-and-white, lobed medallions, floral pattern, and ginger jar shape of this vase were inspired by the Chinese Yuan dynasty.
Persia, Egypt, or Syria, medieval period, 13th/14th century AD.
Provenance: United Kingdom, A.P.L. gallery
Previously: Owned by a London-based collector specializing in Islamic art; formerly part of a collection assembled since the 1980s.
