Description from the seller

Icon with scenes from the Life of Christ (a festive icon in narrative form).

What do you see in the center?

In the central panel, Christ is depicted surrounded by the apostles and saints, in an evangelical scene (Christ teaching and blessing). Due to the state of conservation, not all fine details can be distinguished, but the center functions as the main image.

What do the scenes around the frames represent?

Around there are small vignettes depicting episodes from the Gospel. Several are clearly recognizable:

Entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday): at the bottom left you can see Christ mounted on a donkey.

Presentation in the Temple (Encounter with Simeon): in the upper band there are scenes with an altar and draperies, typical of the Temple.

Other scenes seem to correspond to moments such as Baptism / Miracles / Last Supper / Crucifixion / Resurrection, but in this photo they are very darkened and I can't confirm them 100% without a closer look.

Style and period (indicative)

Due to the “with scenes” format and the way it’s painted, it resembles a Russian icon (or one from the Slavic region), probably from the 18th–19th century (approx.).

An authenticity certificate endorsed by the Ministry of Culture of Estonia is provided.
