Description from the seller
Secto Design Octo 4240 is one of the most iconic Scandinavian lamps of the past decades. Below you will find the full background, the design story and the technical details.
1. Design history
Designed in: The Octo 4240 was designed in 2004.
Designer: the Finnish architect Seppo Koho.
Background: Koho wanted to create a wooden lamp that emits a soft, inviting light without dazzling the viewer. The lamp was a response to the demand for larger fixtures that still feel "airy" in a space.
2. Distinctive Design
The lamp is handmade by highly skilled craftsmen in Finland. The design is based on curved slats of PEFC-certified Finnish birch wood. These slats are connected to each other by rings of aircraft plywood, which ensures a strong yet lightweight construction.
3. Technical Specifications
-Height: 68 cm
-Diameter: 54 cm
-Fitting: E27
-Weight: Only 2.0 kg (extremely light for its size)
-Material: Finnish birch wood (black)
4. Implementation
Black Laminated: Black cable + black ceiling canopy.
5. Use and Maintenance
Application: Ideal for above round or square dining tables, or in halls with a high ceiling. Because of the open structure, the lamp does not obstruct the view of the room.
Dimming: The lamp is dimmable provided you use a dimmable light source and have a compatible wall dimmer.
6. State
In good condition, though one slat is broken and has been repaired (see photo). It is not visible when the lamp is hanging.
