Moonlit coastal scene with fishing boats was executed by listed Belgian painter Edouard Moerenhout (1801 Antwerp - 1893) lived and worked in Antwerp.He was a painter of marine subjects. While there is limited information on Moerenhout, it is known that he began exhibiting in1877 at the Salon Triennal de Gand in Ghent and the Generale des Beaux-Arts Bruxelles in Brussels in 1884. Inscription: signed lower right. Technique: oil on wood, original gold-plated frame. Measurements: unframed w. 11" x h. 7 1/2" (28 x 19 cm), framed w. 18 1/4" x h. 14 5/8" (46 x 37 cm). Condition: in good condition.
