Description from the seller
1970s Mid-Century Modern Hand-Blown Glass Lamp by Massive (Belgium)
35 x 7.5 x 7.5 cm — In excellent condition – No reserve.
A striking and substantial Mid-Century Modern glass lamp from the late 1970s, produced by the respected Belgian lighting manufacturer Massive Lamps. Known for their solid construction, high material quality, and design-led approach, Massive pieces from this period are now increasingly appreciated by collectors of European modern design.
This lamp features a tall, slender, and architecturally balanced silhouette with a notably massive weight of 1.85 kg, which immediately conveys its high-quality craftsmanship. The body is entirely hand-blown, displaying natural air bubbles, subtle striations, and gentle irregularities in the glass — authentic hallmarks of artisanal production rather than industrial molding. These characteristics give the lamp depth, luminosity, and a uniquely dynamic interaction with light.
When illuminated, the thick glass softly diffuses light, creating a warm and atmospheric glow that enhances both minimalist and vintage interiors. The piece works beautifully as an accent lamp on a console, sideboard, pedestal, or in a curated modernist setting.
