for sale: the Agfa Box 44 (also known as the “Preisbox”), a historic box camera produced in Germany from 1932 onward. this model is famous for being sold at the symbolic price of 4 Reichsmarks, a brilliant marketing strategy devised by AGFA to popularize photography and boost sales of its own films.



The camera presents itself with the characteristic metal body covered in black faux leather with a herringbone texture and a distinctive Art Deco front. It uses 120 film (the B2 format of the era) to produce 6x9 cm images. It is equipped with a fixed meniscus lens, a simple shutter, and two reflex viewfinders for horizontal and vertical shots.
