Description from the seller

Citroën - ID 19 P - 1965

GENERAL

This beautiful Citroën ID 19 P has always been maintained with care. Although vehicles of 50 years and older are no longer subject to APK requirements in the Netherlands, I have the car undergo a comparable technical inspection every two years as a precaution. The car has been in the Netherlands since 1983 and has been in my possession since 2019.

BODYWORK & PAINTWORK

After purchase, the bodywork has been completely straightened and professionally repainted. The paint is in very good condition, with no dents or scratches. Only on two small areas is some minor attention needed: on the front-right, below the front wheel, there is a small blister, and on the edge of the hood near the windshield there is a minimal imperfection visible (see photos).

The color is AC101 Gris Anthracite, an original color that was offered on the Citroën ID in France in 1965. The color code can be found on the right-hand side under the hood, against the cowl (passenger side, see photo).

The chrome work is neatly polished. All window seals and other rubber seals have been renewed. The Marchal lighting functions properly and all indicator units have been renewed. The underside of the car is clean and solid, as are the door sills.

There were some welding works carried out: the left-front jack support has been replaced and small parts have been professionally welded into the rain gutter under the rear window. In addition, the car has been treated with Dinitrol anti-rust protection.

The wheels have been sand-blasted and powder-coated, as have several black components, as shown in the photos.

technical

The brake platforms have been completely rebuilt. The brake housings have been cleaned and equipped with new stainless steel brake cylinders. All components on the platforms have been replaced with new ones. The disc brakes are in very good condition, as are the rear drum brakes.

The tires still have a good tread and are equipped with very neat hubcaps.

The hydraulic system (LHS) is in excellent condition. The car accelerates quickly and smoothly, and the power steering works very smoothly. The drive belts are in good condition, and the clutch has been overhauled, including a new clutch plate and pressure plate.

The engine has been thoroughly rebuilt. The carburetor is new, as well as the high-pressure pump (HD pump) for the hydraulic system. The power steering has also been rebuilt. The suspension spheres and the rubber leak bags have all been renewed. The hydraulic reservoir is New Old Stock.

During the engine overhaul, the cylinders, cylinder liners, piston rings and pushrods were replaced. The engine block has been cleaned and fitted with new spark plugs. In the distributor housing, the contact points and condenser were renewed. Also the spark plug wires and coil are new. The radiator has been overhauled and repainted. The aluminum cooling tunnel has been cleaned and fitted with a new artificial leather cover. Since the overhaul, the engine delivers improved torque and excellent performance. The engine runs beautifully and, as seen in the last photo, CO2 emissions are low.

The Solex carburetor is a new reproduction that has recently been released on the Dutch market. The car starts without any problems.

Interior

The interior is largely original and in very neat condition. The seats and rear bench are fitted with new foam rubber, while the original red fabric is in excellent condition with no tears or damage. The door panels are also original and well preserved.

The headlining is original, securely fastened and in nice condition. The car is equipped with original Citroën three-point seat belts. The floor mats are new and purchased from René Schoone.

The dashboard is neat, although the crimplak shows light wear in a few small spots. The original radio is present, but not connected. There are no speakers mounted. All switches operate correctly and the interior lighting also works properly. The loom/wiring harnesses are in very good condition and the clock functions.

Documentation

All invoices for the restoration and purchased parts are present and will be handed over to the new owner at the time of sale.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
