Description from the seller

A handsome late Victorian cased silver‑plated fish set, comprising 26 pieces with hallmarked silver ferrules and warm honey‑coloured bone handles, dated 1897. The set provides twelve fish knives, twelve matching forks and a larger serving knife and fork, all housed in the original fitted mahogany canteen with shield‑shaped vacant cartouche to the lid and rich crimson velvet interior.

Each blade is ornately engraved in a scrolling foliate pattern and 'CBS EPS" for Cooper Brothers electroplated silver, typical of high‑quality Victorian table silver, and the contrast between the brightwork mount and mellow bone grips gives a particularly elegant period look on the dining table. The silver‑plate shows honest wear in places from more than a century of use, but all items remain presentable and perfectly usable, with the hallmarked ferrules adding a welcome touch of solid silver quality.
