Description from the seller

GENERAL:
Offered for sale is a 1966 Porsche 912 SWB from early production, finished in Light Ivory (6604). This car is a highly original and well-preserved example of Porsche’s first-generation short-wheelbase models. Thanks to the combination of mechanical integrity and authentic period details, this is an honest, unmodified classic, ideal for both enthusiasts and collectors.

TECHNICAL & MECHANICAL CONDITION:
This 912 is equipped with the desirable and rare manual 5-speed gearbox (902-1), which was a factory option at the time. The car is in good mechanical condition and has recently been serviced to ensure it is road-ready. Work carried out includes cleaning and resealing the carburetors, inspection of the braking system, and standard ignition and oil service. Both the engine and gearbox are original according to the Kardex, making this a rare early SWB matching-numbers 912 coupe with the factory 5-speed transmission which is also rare .

EXTERIOR & BODYWORK:
As an early short-wheelbase (SWB) model, this 912 features characteristic details such as horn grilles, the split rear engine lid, and chrome wheels — all present and in correct condition. The floors and structural components are solid and show no signs of significant previous damage. The white paint shows some age-related wear; for example, the paint on the front hood could benefit from improvement.

INTERIOR:
According to the Kardex, the car retains its original interior. It features a black interior and the three green gauges commonly seen on early 912 models. The interior shows normal signs of wear, consistent with a car of this age.

DOCUMENTATION:
A Porsche Kardex document and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity are included, confirming the factory specifications and original delivery details. The car is eligible for Dutch registration and can also be delivered with APK, TÜV, or RDW inspection if required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an early short-wheelbase Porsche 912 in original and well-maintained condition. With its 5-speed gearbox, original features, and recent mechanical service, this example is ready for the road and ideal for collectors seeking a true representative of Porsche’s entry-level model from the golden era of air-cooled sports cars. We have also recently driven the car and recorded a video, which we are happy to share upon request.

Additional services
Transport: We can arrange transport, both open and enclosed.
Export: Full export support is available should you wish to export the vehicle.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
