BeoVox S60 vintage loudspeakers from B&O

The BeoVox S60 from B&O, introduced in 1978, was designed by Jacob Jensen and is a phase-linear loudspeaker. It is the big brother of the well-known BeoVox S45 loudspeaker.

Phase linearity was, at the time, a development by Bang & Olufsen to eliminate phase shifts. This is achieved by mounting the speakers on a curved front and by using special techniques in the crossover filter and in special speaker units. The advantage is an unprecedentedly pure sound reproduction.

The curved fronts have been integrated into the rear of the speakers. This prevents internal standing waves and is a unique feature of these retro speakers.

The BeoVox S60 can handle a continuous power of 60 watts and a maximum music power of 100 watts, with a frequency range of 36–20,000 Hz. There are four speakers mounted: a 25 cm woofer, a 12.5 cm phase unit, a 5 cm midrange, and a 2.5 cm tweeter.

These are top-notch speakers from the 1970s with a wonderfully beautiful sound.
