Lotte Berger-Maringer was born in Vienna in 1938. From 1957 to 1963, she studied painting with Robert Obsieger and graphics with Hilda Schmid-Jesser at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts. In 1964, she began teaching at the Istanbul Academy in the subjects of figure drawing, free form design, and color theory.
Since 1968, Lotte Berger-Maringer has been working independently in Vienna, and from 1972 to 2000, she was an art teacher at BRG 1020 Vienna.
Lotte Berger-Maringers' medium is watercolor painting. For her, this is the most spontaneous and intimate form of expression, conveying emotions most directly. She captures impressions in delicately chosen colors, which she has gathered in Austria and on her many travels to Turkey, Mexico, Guatemala, Tunisia, the Caribbean, Miami, Florida, or Costa Rica. Her strong interest in human individuals and in fauna and flora has led to the main themes of people, animals, and plants, which define her entire work. The artist moves effortlessly between abstraction and representational art, but her connection to nature always remains intact.
