Description from the seller
Catalan school, 20th century
View of Cadaqués
Oil on canvas attributed to the Catalan School of the 20th century, depicting a luminous coastal view of Cadaqués, one of the most emblematic enclaves of the Catalan Mediterranean landscape.
The composition is articulated along the coastline, with a foreground featuring the rocks washed by the sea and a masterful treatment of the water, resolved through a loose and vibrant brushstroke that captures the movement of the waves and the changing reflections. In the background, the characteristic white village of Cadaqués, crowned by the church, blends harmoniously into the landscape, standing out against the gentle hills that close the scene.
The work stands out for its rich chromatic palette, dominated by blues, turquoise and greens in the sea, contrasted with the bright whites of the architecture and the warm tones of the shore. The brushwork, with a clear Impressionist heritage, brings freshness and dynamism, conveying a Mediterranean atmosphere full of light and vitality.
The painting is presented framed, although the frame is not part of the lot and is sent only as a courtesy gift, and cannot be considered included for valuation purposes.
A representative work of 20th-century Catalan landscape painting, ideal for collectors and lovers of Mediterranean views, as well as for those seeking a decorative piece of notable pictorial quality.
