Description from the seller
Wooden sculpture depicting a hermit saint.
Carved wooden sculpture depicting a hermit saint, probably European devotional production, dating from the 18th to the 19th century.
The figure is depicted standing, wrapped in a broad drapery, with a long beard and a gathered, contemplative demeanor. The hand resting on the chest and the arm slightly extended give the composition an expressive and meditative character, typical of popular religious sculpture.
The iconography does not allow a definite identification of the saint; the work is therefore presented as that of a hermit saint.
The sculpture rests on an integral wooden base, contemporary with the work. The wood shows a uniform dark patina, with signs of wear, small losses and traces of time compatible with the object's age. No obvious restorations are noted. Overall condition is good, as visible in the photographs.
Dimensions:
Overall height is approximately 24 cm (including the base).
An interesting item for collectors of sacred art, antique wooden sculpture, and popular devotion.
Shipping
The shipment takes place from Switzerland. For deliveries to the European Union, longer delivery times should be expected compared to intra-EU shipments, as well as any import costs, VAT and customs duties, which remain the buyer’s responsibility.
Standard mail represents the cheapest shipping method, but not always the most suitable for fragile items and it does not guarantee fast delivery times. At the buyer's request, alternative shipments with private couriers can be considered, subject to a quote.
The item will be packed with the utmost care and with appropriate protections; however, in the case of postal shipping, it is not possible to guarantee either delivery times or to completely exclude risks associated with transportation, especially for international shipments.
