Released around 1999–2000 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sony Discman.
The first Sony Discman (models D-50 / D-5) was introduced in 1979, marking the beginning of portable CD audio. The D-EJ01 belongs to the commemorative models produced to celebrate this important milestone.

This Sony Discman D-EJ01 was manufactured in Japan and is offered complete with its original box and instruction manuals. The unit is fully functional and in excellent cosmetic condition, as clearly shown in the photographs.

The CD player has been carefully tested in multiple configurations:

Headphone listening test: fully functional

All remote control functions operational, with AVLS enabled and disabled

Remote display working correctly, with red and blue backlighting

Repeat / Enter, Play Mode and Sound buttons working correctly

Hold switch working correctly

Remote control levers responsive and accurate

Additional tests:

Analog output test via RCA cable connected to active speakers: fully functional

Optical digital output test connected to an amplifier with passive speakers: fully functional, with very good sound quality

All tests were carried out using 2×AA standard batteries.
