Description from the seller
Original artwork · Unique piece
Technique: Mixed media
Support: Cotton canvas on wooden stretcher
Dimensions: 70 × 50 cm · depth 2 cm
Materia Viva · Nº 25 is an abstract artwork dominated by black tones, structured around two clearly differentiated planes. A more uniform and silent upper field contrasts with a lower band where matter becomes denser, acquiring a more physical, organic, and profound character.
The lower area concentrates irregular textures and restrained gestures that suggest accumulation, pressure, and latent energy. Matter does not expand chaotically; it remains held, generating a constant tension between control and vitality. The upper plane functions as a space of containment, providing visual balance and reinforcing the sensation of silence and depth.
The work explores the idea of matter as a living element, charged with presence and memory. There is no figurative narrative, yet a strong perception of weight, permanence, and time emerges. Black becomes a territory of introspection, resistance, and essential concentration.
Depending on the incidence of light, the protective finish produces subtle reflections that reveal nuances, reliefs, and variations in texture, transforming the perception of the surface without altering the sober and restrained character of the artwork.
