Description from the seller
General
A rare opportunity for the true enthusiast: this Puch 280GE “Montana” from 1987 is an exceptionally handsome example of this iconic off-roader. It is a Swiss-delivered 280GE, where the model designation 280 stands for the relatively rare six-cylinder engine — a version produced in limited numbers and far less common than the well-known 230GE.
This concerns the rather rare 'Montana Swiss' edition. This means more comfort, luxury and a beautiful color. Reportedly there are only about 50 units produced for the Swiss market.
Finished in dark gray with the unmistakable Puch interior featuring checkered upholstery, a mileage of 129,000 km, and in very well-kept condition, this is a Puch that makes an immediate impression. An honest, straightforward classic with character, history, and driving pleasure — including military history.
A fantastic feature is the 7-seat configuration.
Bodywork & Paint Shop
The bodywork is in a particularly neat and well-maintained condition. The dark gray paint is very neat and gives the car a fresh, modern look. The body is completely rust-free and looks remarkably good — something rare for this type.
The rubber seals, windows, bumpers, and lights are all in neat, well-kept condition. The car gives a clearly well-maintained impression and has clearly been cared for.
Technical
Technically, this Puch 280GE is in excellent condition. The six-cylinder engine runs perfectly and starts without any problems, both cold and warm. This engine configuration provides pleasant smoothness and extra driving comfort compared to the four-cylinder variants.
The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and comfortably. The four-wheel drive functions fully and correctly. Brakes, tires and suspension are well maintained and in good condition. The car drives tight, solid and confidence-inspiring — exactly as you would expect from a well-cared-for Puch.
INTERIOR:
The interior features the original, distinctive checkered upholstery and is in very neat condition. The seats, the dashboard, and the other interior components are well-maintained and appropriate for the mileage. The dashboard is neat.
All functions are working properly, including the lighting, windshield wipers, heating system, and instrumentation. The interior underscores that this car has always been treated with care.
Documents
This Puch 280GE was originally delivered in Switzerland and has had only two owners there. In the Netherlands the car has also had two owners, bringing the total to just four owners — exceptionally few for a vehicle of this age.
The car is delivered with the fully completed maintenance book, in which the owners are noted and all service visits are recorded. In addition, for the Dutch ownership, virtually the full maintenance history is available, including extensive documentation and invoices.
The car is registered in the Netherlands.
AFHALING
The Puch is delivered with a new APK, in which it has been thoroughly checked.
Other Information
This is an exceptionally neat, well-presented and superbly driving Puch 280GE with the rare 6-cylinder engine, a low number of owners, and a very complete set of documentation. If you are looking for a characterful classic with verifiable history that is ready to use right away, this is a particularly attractive specimen for the true enthusiast.
