Antique oval wall mirror in wood with a glass mirror, in Rococo revival style, dating to the first half of the 20th century.
Description from the seller
An important antique oval mirror, dating from the 19th century, with a carved and gilded wooden frame, representative of the Rococo revival taste, widespread across Europe between the first and second halves of the 19th century.
The frame features an elaborate decorative arrangement of volutes, stylized leaves, and floral motifs, carefully carved in relief. The upper part is enriched by an openwork crest with a central element in a vegetal motif, which gives vertical emphasis and great elegance to the whole. The oval profile is harmonious and well-proportioned, with continuous decoration along the entire perimeter.
The gilding, probably applied with gold leaf on a bole ground, shows an authentic antique patina, with natural abrasions, small losses, and signs of aging consistent with the object's age. Such characteristics do not compromise the mirror's aesthetic reading, but rather reinforce its historical and collecting value.
The mirror is designed as a wall-mounted furnishing piece intended to enhance elegant, formal interiors. It can be placed above a console, a dresser, or a fireplace, or used as a focal element in living rooms, entrances, bedrooms, or antique-style settings, where it serves both a practical and decorative purpose.
The glass shows signs of age compatible with the period, with no obvious cracks. The back is wooden, consistent with nineteenth-century craftsmanship.
Dimensions
• External dimensions: 95 × 80 cm
• Internal dimensions (mirror): 76 × 55 cm
Condition
Good overall condition. There are normal signs of use, small losses of gilding, and minor structural imperfections due to age, visible in the photographs. An authentic item that has not been invasively restored.

Description
Important antique oval mirror dating from the 19th century, featuring a carved and gilded wooden frame, representative of the Rococo Revival style, widely appreciated in European decorative arts during the 19th century.
The frame is richly decorated with scrolls, stylized foliage and floral motifs, finely carved in relief. The upper section is completed by an elegant pierced crest with a central vegetal ornament, adding vertical emphasis and refinement to the overall composition. The oval shape is well balanced, with continuous decoration running along the entire perimeter.
The gilding, likely executed in gold leaf over bole, retains an authentic aged patina, showing natural wear, minor losses and abrasions consistent with its age. These characteristics do not detract from the piece, but instead enhance its historical integrity and decorative appeal.
