1. What is 18K gold (Solid)?
The outer case: the body of the watch.
The rear case back: the outer cover that opens and on which the monogram sits.
The "cuvette" (dust cover): The second inner lid (the one with the markings "4 Grands Prix") is also 18k gold in this particular model, as confirmed by the hallmarks.
The lunette: the circle that holds the glass in place.
The pendant and the ring: The neck and the ring where the chain attaches.
2. What is NOT gold
The Movement (Mechanism): It is the heaviest part. It is made of gold-plated brass (gold-plated to prevent oxidation), steel, synthetic rubies, and copper. It represents about 50-60% of the total weight.
The Dial: It is copper or iron coated with ceramic enamel (vitrified).
Glass: Is it mineral glass or esalite.
Le Lancette: They are in blued steel (thermally treated to achieve that magnetic blue).
Springs and Gears: They are made of tempered steel or metal alloys to resist wear.
