Bambara Female Sculpture - Bambara - Mali

Bambara sculpture - Bamana in dark wood, very heavy and compact, with a splendid ancient patina. It depicts a standing female figure on a round base, in traditional Bambara style. The legs, well carved, support a cylindrical body decorated with refined vertical scarifications.
Pronounced anatomical details: protruding buttocks, prominent breasts, squared shoulders, and arms extending forward with stylized hands. Engraved decorations on the arms and shoulders. A slender neck wrapped in embroidered fabric with ornaments. The face, typical of Bambara style, features a boat-shaped nose, sunken eyes, and a sloping forehead. An elegant hairstyle with braids at the back.
