Description from the seller

Mortar and pestle in antique bronze, Georgian-Victorian, English or French, for the scientific laboratory, herbalist, pots, pharmacist, instrument, original patina. This is a truly fabulous, solid bronze mortar and pestle dating to the early 1800s. It is intact and of high quality, with a nice ring when tapped on the side.

The mortar is about 8.9 cm tall and has an upper rim about 12 cm wide; the pestle is about 21 cm long. It is very heavy for its size, as can be seen in one of the latest photos.

In excellent condition, used, it features a wonderful warm, aged patina and signs of wear commensurate with its age. To me it's exactly as one would want it—a piece like this that is nearly 200 years old!
