GIANNI BERGAMELLI
(Nembro 1930)
Allebara
Enamels on canvas 73 x 63 cm, framed.
Canvas: 70 x 60 cm
Historically contextualized work from 1970.
Born to a modest working-class family, he devoted himself to painting as a self-taught artist starting in the 1960s, making his debut in 1967 with an exhibition on Via della Spiga in Milan, subsequently exhibiting in a 'first solo show' in Bergamo in January 1971, along with the painter Enrico Prometti.
In 1972 he participates in the First Artistic Meeting held in Ardesio from July 23 to August 23, of which a catalog will be published curated by critic Umbro Apollonio. The meeting saw the participation of notable figures in the world of contemporary art, among whom: Enrico Baj, Agostino Bonalumi, Eugenio Carmi, Enrico Castellani, Lucio Fontana, Walter Fusi, Aldo Galli, Emilio Scanavino, Luigi Veronesi, and many others.
From the 1980s onward, the now established painter would stand out for the originality of his neoconstruktive and conceptual themes, exhibiting in four successive solo exhibitions. In 1977 he won the 'Premio Bagnatica,' awarded by the municipality of Bagnatica and Vittorio Bellini, while in 1984 he would co-found, with other colleagues, the Enea Salmeggia group in Nembro, active in promoting local culture.
His works are preserved in some public and private collections.
