Rug - 80 cm - 50 cm

A rare set of antique handwoven tribal rug panels, originating from the Caucasus / Anatolian region, dating to the late 19th – early 20th century. These textiles were traditionally used by nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes as decorative panels, saddle covers, bag faces or interior wall hangings. The rugs feature strong geometric medallion compositions with stepped motifs and angular borders, characteristic of Caucasian and Anatolian tribal weaving traditions. The pieces are hand-knotted from natural wool on a wool foundation. The color palette consists of deep blue, brown, beige, soft red and ivory tones, created using natural vegetable dyes. Decorative side tassels and original fringes are preserved, adding to the authenticity and charm. The reverse clearly shows a traditional horizontal weaving structure, typical for tribal looms of the period. These rugs display honest age-related wear, consistent with their age and use, which enhances their character and collectible value. No modern restorations observed. An authentic example of late 19th / early 20th-century tribal textile art, suitable for collectors, interior decoration, or textile enthusiasts. ⸻ Details • • Period: Late 19th – early 20th century • Material: 100% wool (pile and foundation) • Technique: Hand-knotted • Style: Tribal / Geometric / Nomadic • Condition: Original antique condition with age-related wear ⸻ Condition (для эксперта Catawiki) The rugs are in good antique condition. Visible wear, slight pile reduction and minor irregularities consistent with age. Fringes and decorative tassels are largely intact. Structurally stable.
