Description from the seller

Decorative box in gilded brass with a painted porcelain medallion and signed – Late 19th century

Elegant decorative box in gilded brass, richly adorned, dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, typical of French decorative production in the Louis XVI / Napoleon III (revival) style.

The lid is accented by a finely hand-painted porcelain medallion, depicting a female portrait with aristocratic inspiration, with delicate work on the facial features, hairstyle, and color nuances.
The medallion bears a signature, indicating the work of a painter-decorator, probably from a French workshop.

The gilded-brass mount features refined decoration with friezes and neoclassical motifs. The interior is also gilded. This type of box was intended for use as a toiletry box, jewelry box, or bonbonnière, while preserving an elegant decorative function.

Condition consistent with age and use.
Signs of wear and gilding degradation, minor marks and natural patina, with no significant damage.
The porcelain medallion is in good condition, with no chips, a slight fine crackle, and a normal patina due to its age.
Functional hinge.
