Doyen - Vase - Glass

A large black hyalite glass vase, Art Deco period, from Doyen’s Floralie series. The lustrous black ground is finely hand-painted with autumnal decoration depicting Virginia creeper leaves and berries. The foliage rendered in nuanced tones ranges from deep red-brown to light brown highlighted with yellow, and is punctuated by small white to pale blue fruits.
The refined seasonal palette and accomplished painterly execution suggest the vase was most probably decorated in the ateliers of Léon Mairesse.
