Description from the seller

"Scarlet" comes from photographer Ursula van de Bunte's JELLY'S collection. It is a print on Hahenmühle Baryta paper and is mounted on aluminum. The size is 25x25 and it is the first edition of 25.
The story of the Jelly’s – Images full of softness, vulnerability, and femininity. These handmade creations consist of 90% water, just like us. In these translucent forms, the photographer incorporates elements from nature. Ursula’s Jelly’s symbolize that delicate vulnerability, but also represent the softness and strength of the woman. The organic shapes of the ‘appealing desserts’ reflect the natural beauty and cuddliness of the female body. Transparent and pure, but also unfathomable because you don’t know what is happening inside. Ursula lives and works in a monumental building in the Hanseatic city of Kampen.

Seller's Story

Passionate, sensitive and an eye for detail, light and colour, would be a nice description for Ursula's working method. She is a perfectionist, enthusiastic and diligent, she will only be satisfied when the well-known WOW factor has been achieved. With her artworks she tries to bring her subjects forward in the purest way. Ursula transforms objects into powerful still lifes and the portraits are a reflection of a bygone time, in which every now and then a sprinkle of modern life is incorporated. Her work is unconventional and the use of light tends towards her sources of inspiration; the paintings of Jacques-Louis David, Rembrandt and Caravaggio. As a photographer, Ursula also tries to distinguish herself through diversity in her work and, in addition to individual creations, she also makes series, in which she lets multiple images tell one story. She was discovered, among other things, with her intriguing, tranquil still lifes: the series Plastic Vegetables’ and the series ‘House-4-Sale’. These works have been awarded various prizes, including for the series “de 100 van Rooyackers.” Exhibitions: 2024 Municipal Museum Kampen 2023 ANNO museum Zwolle 2019 Foundation Zwolle 2019 WG Art Amsterdam 2017 Warehouse 6 Amsterdam 2016-present Galerie ANNEE, Solo, Group exhibitions 2016 from Abbemuseum Publications: Stentor-Haarlems Dagblad, HP de Tijd, GUP New Dutch Photography Prices include, 2017 Public Prize Photographic Design 2015 PIA d'or Award second prize Portrait 2021 Fine Art Photography Awards Portrait
