Antique service plate with wood inlays – Switzerland / Southern Germany around 1800
Elegant serving plate made of solid wood.
with finely crafted floral
Wood inlay. The piece stands on four original turned feet and features a profiled,
fluted edge. Such serving plates were around 1800 for pastries, fruit or confectionery on
used for the table or sideboard.
Dating: ca. 1780–1820 (Late Baroque / Early Neoclassicism)
Origin: Switzerland or the southern German-speaking region.
Material: walnut with inlays of lighter and darker woods
Technique: handcrafted one-off production, not mass production.

Original, unrestored condition with age-related signs of wear and fine hairline cracks
and a nicer, more authentic patina. The inlays are fully preserved. No modern
Repairs.
