MEDSAN's original 40 × 40 cm acrylic and mixed-media painting Hold on ! – Hand signed, dated 2024, originating from France, depicting pop culture icons and ready to hang.
Description from the seller
Original work created with acrylic paint, Posca markers, and spray paint. Signed Medsan, an artist known for his subversions of cultural icons and his pop compositions with strong narrative resonance.
Hold On distorts the codes of pop culture and superheroes to offer a scene that is at once provocative, tender, and resolutely contemporary. Medsan tensions two instantly recognizable icons, frozen in an intimate, almost absurd moment, where heroic strength becomes a gesture of restraint, support, or dependence. The handwritten inscription “Hold On!” acts as an ambiguous injunction: clinging to the other, to an ideal, to an illusion, or simply to the present moment. The contrast between the symbolic power of the characters and the fragile posture of the scene creates an ironic offset typical of the artist’s approach. The graphical treatment borrows from Pop Art, American comics, and the street art aesthetic: flat fields of bold color, strong black outlines, comic-inspired halftones, a tight, frontal composition. The body becomes here a visual language, at once an object of desire, of protection, and of derision. With Hold On!, Medsan questions our relationship to modern myths, to projected strength, and to the vulnerability hidden behind popular icons. A bold, visually striking work, ideal for a collector attuned to contemporary pop art and cultural reworkings.

An artists' studio bringing together around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a genuine site of artistic production, the studio operates both as a space for collective creation and for individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive approach, blending abstract art, outsider art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist."}
