Superior analog performance
The 108 MHz/14-bit multi-bit video DAC built into the VQE9 chipset delivers optimal analog performance, while the highly faithful sound of exceptional quality is achieved thanks to the 192 kHz/24-bit audio DAC applied to all channels.
The SACD button enables users to switch directly between SACD 2-channel, multichannel audio, and CD, while a Pure Audio button delivers ultimate analog purity by turning off all unused video processing and digital audio circuits, minimizing the noise level in the audio signal for a penetrating, undistorted analog sound. The DV-989AVi-S also includes Pioneer’s user-friendly jog and joystick remote control with illuminated keys.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Pioneer's DV-989 is a top-of-the-line DVD player, featuring TOP sound experience.
Very few players offer the same performance with both movies and music – the sound quality from a high end CD player (+ also use of video).
That said, though, this is an exceptional piece of kit for (nearly) sensible money and when you see it you’ll know exactly what we mean.

The best DVD-layer ever made. Even BD-players can't make DVD-picture like this. An excellent SACD-player too. No matter if you need 2ch or multi-channel unit. This is all singing, all dancing, bells and whistles unit for anyone who wants the best out from these formats. Solid performer and solid unit.
