Description from the seller

Lotto title
Elegant dressing table 'Petineuse' in walnut wood – Louis-Philippe/Victorian style – 19th century

Detailed Description
Splendid and refined bedroom vanity (petineuse) dating from the second half of the 19th century (circa 1870–1880). This piece of furniture represents an example of excellence in European cabinetmaking of the era, perfectly combining structural solidity with decorative elegance.

Main Features
• Premium Materials: The piece is entirely veneered in fine walnut burl (burr walnut). The natural grain of the wood has been expertly arranged to create symmetric patterns with a strong aesthetic impact.
• Tilting vanity mirror: The upper part is dominated by a large central tilting mirror (adjustable), supported by two curved and richly carved uprights with scroll motifs. The mirror is original to the period.
• Two-level architecture: * The upper shelf features three small "secret" drawers for jewelry or cosmetics, finished with a rare and delicate brass railing (gallery).
• The main body features a wide, deep central drawer integrated into the under-counter panel, ideal for linens or larger accessories.
• Artistic Base: The piece rests on two cabriole legs, curved and carved, ending with elegant scroll feet. All of it is joined by a shaped cruciform base that guarantees stability and provides an additional resting surface.

Condition
The furniture is in good original condition. The frame is solid, and the veneer preserves its natural sheen. It shows light and normal signs of aging that attest to its authenticity and enhance its historical charm. The mirror displays a subtle and charming "bloom" (silvering oxidation), typical of authentic antique mirrors.
