Austin A35 Van LHD, 1959.
Description from the seller
In Highlight
- Equipped with a Conformity Guarantee appraisal by Federperiti.
- Rare left-hand drive version
- A35 van with 948cc engine
- In original conditions, not transformed.
History / Overview
The A35 is a compact passenger car produced by Austin from 1956, as the successor to the A30. The major differences of the A35 from its predecessor lie mainly in the engine, a 4-cylinder of 948 cc, whose power was increased to 35 hp (from which the name A35 derives); and in the 4-speed transmission, with improved gear ratios. Among the various models produced, there was also the VAN version, particularly sought after today. This left-hand-drive example is very rare.
Exterior
The exterior paint was restored many years ago, and today it shows signs of wear and the passage of time. A polishing and detailing treatment has just been completed, and the car generally presents itself as well-preserved and solid. The various original details are present.
The underbody is preserved, generally solid, but in normal-use condition; it has never undergone any restoration and presents no signs of accidents.
Internal
The front seats have recently been reupholstered; the rest of the interior is preserved, not restored, including the dashboard. They are in good condition, with the complete dash and the typical series steering wheel. The door glass is of the fixed type.
MECHANICS
The 948cc engine is not seized and spins freely, however it has not been started recently and general maintenance is required for road use.
A rare left-hand-drive version rarely appears on the market, and these A35s with a 948cc engine are increasingly sought after. Given the tough life these work vehicles usually endure, this van is very solid and original.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
