Description from the seller

Together with Cornelis Springer and Jan Weissenbuch, Adrianus Eversen ranks among the important Romantic cityscape painters of the 19th century. Originally a pupil of H.G. ten Cate and Cornelis de Cruyff, he nonetheless learned the most from Cornelis Springer, by whom he was strongly influenced and with whom he even shared the studio. He, however, developed a recognizable, often somewhat looser and more artistic style. From 1860 he participated in many international exhibitions such as in Bremen, Dresden, Berlin and Vienna. Interest in the work of Adrianus Eversen has always been strong. His work is in many important collections and museums around the world, such as in California, Boston, Washington, Cheltenham, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Groningen, etc. In 2011 an extensive biography of this painter appeared. The work is monogrammed. Including a certificate of authenticity from a sworn appraiser for paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
