Description from the seller
LACRISS | Biography
Born in Rome in 1990, lacriss discovered her universe as a child among school desks, where she spent her time drawing imaginary cities and cartoon characters, captivated by the raw soul of Rome's streets. Ever fascinated by black and white photography and design, she cultivated an intimate dialogue through pencil and charcoal strokes: a journey that began as a sanctuary from solitude and flourished over time to become today her profession.
Her art is a visceral encounter between contemporary art, design, and instinct. On canvas, lacriss blends acrylic, spray paint, colored inks, charcoal, and pastel into a deliberately raw, mixed-media texture. Broad brushstrokes generate sharp acrylic slashes and bold gradients, while sudden lines and marks from spray paint soil the surface in a powerful play of contrasts against the deep, dusty nature of black charcoal.
Every work is an act dictated exclusively by instinct: the artist paints what she feels, letting the mark guide her hand. Her world is populated by bizarre characters or distorted childhood cartoon icons, made intentionally strange and imperfect; refined figures that seem to wink at the viewer, inviting them to understand that their incompleteness is a choice. lacriss does not seek precision, but chaos—image or cartoon, and a magnetic vibration. Her canvases are an open invitation: the artist offers her instinctive vision, but it is the observer who provides the final interpretation, losing themselves in the energy of a 'dirty' stroke that transforms chaos into a visceral and personal harmony.
