early 20th‑century collectible scientific microscope (circa 1900)
This precision instrument is a monocular model mainly built of varnished brass, resting on a robust black-lacquered cast-iron base in a stylized 'horseshoe' shape.
Details and features:
Signature / Engraving: The optical tube bears the engraved inscription "ANTYRIS Stat 5 Comb F".
Optics: Presence of an eyepiece and an objective. The focusing adjustment is performed by a rack-and-pinion system operated by two large brass side knobs.
Plate: a square black metal plate equipped with two fixation clamps to hold the preparations (slides).
Lighting: Adjustable reflector mirror (flat and concave) mounted on a pivot beneath the plate to optimize the illumination.
Condition: Good overall aesthetic condition with an authentic patina of wear. The brass shows traces of natural oxidation and spots of discoloration that attest to its age and authenticity. The focusing mechanism appears to be functional.
