Description from the seller
Realistic portrait with expressionist nuances of a Native American.
It is painted on a wooden board to enhance expressiveness, using the textures and grain of the wood; the technique is mixed, using oil and spray.
Painted out of love for Native American culture, their attitudes, their way of life.
Interest in the roots of the American continent, history, spirituality or a natural conception of life, shamanism, rituals.
I am Sergio Rivera Martínez, an artist from Madrid. One could say that I have been painting since I was born.
Art has come into my life naturally; my grandparents and mother were artisans and artists who worked with wood, tapestries, ceramics, and, of course, painting.
All the memories I have are linked to painting… At home, at my grandparents’ house, birthday and Christmas gifts that were paint sets, while I was watching my favorite cartoons I would paint. I painted so much that even when I left the house I kept painting, and that’s how I began to experiment with graffiti in my early adolescence, up to today where I have become part of the graffiti history book of Majadahonda.
Nowadays I work on canvas with a meticulous realism in every detail or expression. I focus the motifs of my work mainly on nostalgia, retro aesthetics, or the classical.
Some of the latest exhibitions I have been a part of:
Estampa Fair Madrid 2024
Different exhibitions at Espacio Beny 2023-2024
Cyclamen Exhibition, Leucade Gallery 2024
Exhibition Seventy-Two, El Punto Rojo Gallery.
Group exhibition “Hashtag3” Leucade Gallery.
Group exhibition “Essential” Leucade Gallery.
“Geronimo” (Artwork), honorable mention for Best Visual Artwork in the Western genre. Almería Western Film Festival 2017. Among others.
2025 -2026 Represented by Galería Herraíz . (Madrid)
