AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Details of the Work========================

Title: The Overthinker

Year of production: 2025

Technique: oil on canvas

Dimensions: Canvas/support size: 40 × 30 × 4 cm. Unframed. The stretcher has a thickness of 4 cm, which allows it to be hung directly without the need for a frame, since the edges are painted to follow the aesthetics of the artwork.

This work captures the intensity of intrusive thoughts and mental saturation through a vibrant and electric color palette. Using contrasts between cool tones (turquoise background) and a human figure that seems to “burn” in magenta, orange, and violet tones, the piece explores the duality between outer calm and inner noise.

The brushstroke is fluid and expressive, highlighting the texture of the skin under an almost thermal lighting that emphasizes the tension of the gesture. It is a work that invites reflection on mental health and the human condition in the era of overstimulation.

One-of-a-kind piece signed by the artist on the back of the painting.

About the artist: Daviz Plaza, Madrid 1975.

My work is part of a genealogy that returns to the spiritual, delving into the symbolic as a necessary refuge in the contemporary world, akin to the Symbolists of the 19th century. I cultivate a dogma-free spirituality through art, where the artwork becomes the true ritual. My work centers on rescuing the essence of ancestral gestures, connecting universal archetypes with the contemporary world, in contrast to the ephemeral and ever-changing nature of technology.
In the face of a hyperconnected and often empty present, my role as an artist is to be a mediator. My practice invites people to pause and reconnect with a timeless depth. Each piece seeks to be a threshold of introspection, where ritual lets us inhabit the mystery of existence, reaffirming the pursuit of transcendence as an indispensable part of our humanity.
My work is in private collections both nationally and internationally.
