Description from the seller
Martin POSER (1909-1999)
Painter, draftsman, graphic artist, and ceramicist. (MARTIN Werner). Born on December 8, 1909, in Leipzig. Died on April 8, 1999, in Lödöse. Poser painted landscapes, figures, and portraits, as well as decorative compositions in oil and watercolor, often featuring motifs from Marstrand. He received his first artistic training in Leipzig and Nuremberg, and during study trips to countries including France and Italy. Poser seems to work along two lines in his visual art: partly figurative with easily recognizable motifs, and partly cubist-abstract, mainly with figure compositions. Poser had a solo exhibition in 1948 at Olséns Konstsalong in Gothenburg. In 1949, he painted murals in the municipal secondary school of Kungsholmen and in Folkets hus in Sävedalen. For three years, he illustrated the magazine 'Västkustfiskaren.' From the late 1940s until his death, Poser maintained a busy summer studio in Marstrand. In memory of Martin Poser, a memorial fund has been established, from which an annual scholarship is awarded. This scholarship is available to young people pursuing education in artistic, aesthetic, or cultural forms of expression, such as visual arts, music, dance, or literature.
