Project notes: Documentary photography and engaged street art. JR, accompanied by Marco, organized in 2007 the largest clandestine photographic exhibition on the separation wall between Israel and Palestine.

41 large-format portraits of Israelis and Palestinians practicing the same professions — farmers, taxi drivers, bakers, nuns, teachers, belt-makers, etc. — pasted “face to face” on the wall in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah, Tel Aviv, Haifa, and other cities.

Large full-page photographs mixing individual portraits and in situ urban scenes, showing the postings on the ground.

Highlighting the striking resemblance between people whose identities are politically opposed — same faces, same professions, same smiles: “twin witnesses” sowing hope for peace.

Part of the book is a travel diary with numerous testimonies gathered on site, ship’s logs and the photographic ambience of the reportage, offering a humane, sincere and engaged view on the conflict.
