Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer\'s etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketchy lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, with the graphic character of scratch marks and incisions remaining visible. Because of this, his houses take on an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic representation.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Due to his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer was among the most eccentric Dutch artists of recent decades. His turbulent life expression appeared in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his high output of art. Heyboer trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, though still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on which his abstract works arose. Yet in his paintings and etchings there remain always figurative elements. He also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Framed dimensions: 43 x 60 cm
Unframed dimensions: 33 x 41 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house framers, celebrating their 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we use restorers from the professional association: Restauratoren Nederland. If you would like to use this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
