Description from the seller
Olav Vorsel (1922–2007) was a Dutch artist who only chose the path of an artist at the age of 47, driven by a strong inner need to express his worldview in images. His work, influenced by a turbulent youth and intense life questions, consists of expressive paintings with impasto layers in which both societal and psychological themes resonate.
Vorsel began his career in the world of books, where he worked, among other things, as director of the Van Ditmar publishing house. In the late sixties he gained the freedom to devote himself to introspective writing and painting. Gradually, his paintings transformed from free forms to tight lines and geometric abstraction, a development he documented in detail.
Dimensions with frame: 119 x 93 cm
Dimensions without frame: 100 x 74 cm
Viewing is of course possible. In addition we have our own in-house frame shop, celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be pleased to hear from you."}
