About the artist:
Dimitris Trimintzios, known as Taxis (born in 1983), is a Polish-Greek artist who lives and works in Athens. A singular figure on the contemporary scene, he develops a body of work deeply centered on the human condition, between emotional realism and existential tension.
Passionate about drawing from childhood, he began in graffiti in 1997, as a teenager, experimenting on walls, trains and urban space. This early immersion in graffiti culture forged his direct and instinctive relationship with images.
Subsequently, he turned to comics and illustration, publishing short stories in comic magazines, thus broadening his narrative scope and his approach to the character.
He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 2008. His academic training allowed him to deepen his technical mastery while preserving the raw energy inherited from graffiti. From 2017, he began a major turning point by developing an intensive mural fresco practice and has since participated in numerous international festivals.
Taxis’ universe is characterized by powerful, highly expressive human figures, often marked by feelings of solitude, desolation, or alienation.
Whether in paintings, drawings, collages, or monumental murals, his works explore the daily struggle of the individual against social and existential constraints. The wall becomes, for him, an introspective surface, a space where the deepest states of mind are projected, eliciting in the viewer a sense of suspension and detachment from reality.
His work aims not only to represent emotion but to engage in an inner dialogue with the audience. Through his characters and scenes filled with intensity, Taxis invites everyone to reassess the obvious, find meaning in the ordinary, and question their own perception of the world.
He has exhibited in several group shows in Europe and has presented two major solo exhibitions at the Galo Art Gallery (Turin) and at the Underdogs Gallery (Lisbon).
Today, Dimitris Trimintzios (Taxis) establishes himself as a strong voice on the contemporary urban and figurative scene, at the crossroads of street art, academic painting, and graphic storytelling.
