Antique gentleman’s walking cane with a natural stag horn handle mounted on a warm-toned hardwood shaft, finished with a decorative silver-coloured collar, no hallmarks and ferrule missing, dating to circa 1900–1920, in good antique condition.
Description from the seller
Traditional gentleman’s walking cane fitted with a natural antler (stag horn) handle, mounted on a hardwood shaft and finished with a decorative silver-coloured collar. The antler handle displays characteristic natural texture and colour variation, with a well-defined grip and comfortable proportions.
The junction between the handle and shaft is reinforced with an ornamented white metal / silver-coloured collar, decorated with scrolling foliate motifs. No hallmarks or metal purity stamps are present, and the collar is therefore described as silver-coloured or plated metal rather than solid silver.
The cane features a straight hardwood shaft with a warm amber tone and visible grain, showing surface wear and patina consistent with age and long-term use. The cane retains its original ferrule, showing expected wear from use and confirming originality.
A characterful and visually appealing cane, combining natural antler with decorative metalwork, representative of late 19th to early 20th century country or sporting taste.
Good antique condition, consistent with age. The antler handle shows natural wear, surface marks and colour variation typical of genuine antler. The silver-coloured collar shows surface wear and patina, with no hallmarks present. The hardwood shaft is straight and structurally sound, with surface wear and age-related marks. The ferrule is no longer present.
