Antique double desk inkwell in calcite onyx with brass lids, dating from 1900–1910, in a transitional late 19th/early 20th century style.
Description from the seller
Antique double desk inkwell crafted from calcite onyx in honey, amber, caramel and soft cream tones, displaying natural veining and gentle colour transitions throughout the stone.
The substantial stepped base and brass hinged lids reflect a transitional design from the late 19th to early 20th century. Both original brass lids remain functional and display authentic age-related patina. Interior wells show historic ink staining consistent with genuine period use.
The underside remains unpolished, showing original quarry-cut surfaces typical of early 20th century stone desk objects, confirming authentic workshop manufacture.
A genuine antique writing desk piece with strong material presence and visible history of use.

Styling suggestion
Beautiful as a statement antique desk object, styled on a writing table, library shelf, or console. Pairs exceptionally well with dark wood, leather, and brass accents.
When placed near a light source, the calcite onyx softly interacts with light, revealing subtle internal depth and warmth in the stone — a particularly attractive feature in evening or ambient lighting.
Also works wonderfully as a sculptural decorative piece when no longer used functionally.
Shipping
Carefully packed for safe international shipping.
The inkwell will be professionally wrapped in multiple protective layers, with reinforced boxing and internal cushioning to protect both stone and brass components.
Tracked and insured shipment.
