Description from the seller
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Contemporary Photomosaics
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. From a distance, the image appears immediately legible, strong and assertive. Up close, it reveals a dense architecture made up of thousands of subtly interwoven elements. This work rests on a precise artistic direction, a methodical and rigorous construction, a balance sought between fragmentation and unity, and a constant demand for visual quality and decorative impact. Through this series, David Law questions the fabrication of contemporary image-making and how a multitude of fragments can give rise to a coherent and unique work.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Print on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term resilience, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a writer-artist-musician practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY."}
