Description from the seller

Elegant Italian mid-20th-century production studio desk, characterized by a solid and symmetrically defined “centered” structure, finished on all four sides to be freely positioned in a room.

Construction features:
The piece is made with a softwood trunk (poplar/spruce) and finely veneered in walnut with burr-wood reserves on the front of the drawers. It has nine total drawers: one center under-drawer and eight side drawers arranged on the two uprights. The drawers feature the classic hand-cut dovetail joints, testimony to the craftsmanship quality of the piece.

Condition and Restoration:
Surface: The piece has been recently cleaned and nourished with professional restoration oil, which revived the natural luster of the wood without masking its original patina.
Hardware: The metal fittings and period ring pulls are present. All locks are original and the keys are present and fully functional.
Technical notes: The structure is solid and termite-free. It should be noted that the drawers, being original and in solid wood, require a small adjustment of sliding movement (decoupling of the guides) for smooth daily use.

Defects: There are some signs of wear consistent with the age and professional use of the furniture: light surface scratches on the top, some small veneer loss on the lower plinth, and a historic ink stain on one of the fronts (see close-up photo).

This desk represents a piece of classic design, perfect for a representational office or a private library.
