Manfred Schlindwein (born 1950) created a 2001 abstract woodcut titled Untitled, 45 × 54 cm, Germany origin, signed, in a limited edition, sold with frame by Galerie, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Schlindwein is a German visual artist who is best known for his expressive and colorful woodcuts. He was born in 1950 in Offenburg and lives and works in Gengenbach, in the southwest of Germany. After his studies at the Grafische Fachhochschule in Stuttgart, he studied art and pedagogy in Freiburg, a path that has shaped both his artistic and didactic career.
Schlindwein focuses primarily on the technique of woodcut (Holzschnitt). His work is characterized by powerful lines, high-contrast black areas, and intensive use of color. Rather than following a tightly pre-planned scheme, he often adopts a direct and intuitive approach to the wood. By cutting, carving, and experimenting with different print runs, he creates dynamic compositions in which the tension between form and color is central. Some of his graphic works are later applied to acrylic glass, which adds extra depth and a modern look.
In 1998 he received the Art Prize of the city of Bühl for his contributions to graphic art. He is also a member of XYLON Sektion Deutschland, an association for artists dedicated to woodcut and graphic techniques.
In addition to his own artistic practice, Schlindwein is also active as a teacher. He offers courses in woodcut and printmaking techniques, including at the Kunstakademie EigenArt. His work has been shown in several exhibitions in Germany and abroad and is part of both public and private collections.
