19th‑century brass/bronze barber’s basin from Spain, circa 1850–1900, about 30 × 6 cm and 380 g, with natural uniform patina and light signs of use in good structural condition.
Description from the seller
19th-century brass/bronze barber’s basin with a natural uniform patina and wear typical of antiquity, with a subdued brown finish and light handling marks. No clear manufacturer marks, suggesting an artisanal workshop or period production.
Of possibly Spanish manufacture.
Good structural preservation. Signs of use and surface wear (scratches, small dents, uneven patina). Small restoration areas that do not affect the integrity of the piece.
A piece of interest for furniture and vintage barbering tool collectors, as well as for vintage or industrial style decoration.
The piece preserves the patina and character of the era, which can enhance its aesthetic and collectible value despite signs of use. It has not been restored.
Approximate dimensions: 30 x 6 cm. Weight: 380 g.
The word bacía comes from medieval Latin and refers to a concave and large vessel, made of metal or clay, wide, round or oval, generally with a semicircular notch in the edge to fit around the client’s neck. Its most common use was in barbershops, as a container for lather used for shaving soap, and another common use was for medical bloodletting.
