A fine email-sur-biscuit decorated statue of Saint Roche, patron saint of dogs, standing circa 26,3cm tall and weighing 342g, lifting his frock to expose a bleeding wound, a dog by his side holding a bread in its mouth.
Roch (1348 – 1379) also called Rock in English, was a Majorcan Catholic confessor whose death is commemorated on 16 August (9 September in Italy), he is considered a patron saint of dogs, invalids, falsely accused people and bachelors.
Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age.
