Description from the seller
Pernilla armchair in black fabric – Bruno Mathsson for DUX, Sweden, 1970s
Pernilla chair designed by Bruno Mathsson, produced by DUX, Sweden, 1970s–80s. Manufacturer's DUX mark present on the frame.
The frame is made of birch and steamed-bent beech, according to the technique developed by Mathsson in the 1930s, in the tradition of Nordic modernism and organic research on laminated wood.
The seat consists of original black webbing straps, a rarer variant than the lighter or natural versions. This configuration strengthens the graphic contrast between the blond wood frame and the dark textile weave.
The headrest has been reupholstered in black suede, in keeping with the original model. Delivery possible with a new sheepskin if desired.
Created from 1944, the Pernilla series is one of Bruno Mathsson's most emblematic projects. The first models were produced by Karl Mathsson AB in Värnamo. In the 1960s, Mathsson restarted production in collaboration with the Swedish manufacturer DUX, giving rise to the modern editions that are sought after today.
Condition: very good vintage overall. Stable frame, original fabric well preserved.
Seat height: about 35–27 cm (gradual tilt).
A classic of 20th-century Scandinavian design, combining ergonomics, lightness and organic elegance.
