Clemens Briels, Figure, a hand-signed screen print from a limited edition (147/200, 2002), in excellent condition, produced in the Netherlands, 62 × 56 cm framed, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Clemens Briels, born in Son in 1946, is a highly sought-after artist both domestically and internationally. His works are included in various renowned art collections, and he was the first Dutch artist to be chosen as Official Olympic Artist for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002.
Behind Clemens Briels' works lies always a story; his pieces are small anecdotes from a contrasting society. Briels developed his own style, ANTIPODISME: he prefers to imagine the opposite of the stereotype, the learned. The viewer is confronted with a different, imaginative view of everyday things and is often taken by surprise.
Briels imagines the experiences he gained in the Orient, the Caribbean, and North and South America. In addition, traditional Central and South American music is an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. The Cuban son, mambo, merengue, and the souk, with a lightly erotic sauce over the musical tones, compel him to create intriguing paintings.
Clemens Briels' artworks are never bound to a specific time and reflect universal themes, cosmopolitan visions of daily life. Briels translates his experiences in his own way, in his own unique fantasy world. Color is the tool, the story is his message. The artist stimulates the viewer's imagination by presenting images different from what we are expected to see. Since stereotypes are learned rather than imaginative interpretations of surrounding things and events, the viewer is met with surprises.
Dimensions of the work with frame: 62 x 56 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 33 x 29 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framers, who are celebrating their 85th anniversary year. We also use restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
